Joanna Middleton - Head of Talent Acquisition : Your Future Delivered
At DM, we're committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace that reflects the UK and Ireland population.
Recognising the importance of diversity in driving innovation and creativity, we have embarked on a strategic journey to ensure that our workforce represents the vibrant diversity of our society.
As June is Diversity Month at DM, we're taking a moment to share how we're making strides towards this goal.
We understand the importance of casting a wide net to attract talent from diverse backgrounds. By actively engaging with new diverse job boards including Diverse Jobs Matter and VERCIDA, we are expanding our reach and tapping into talent pools that may have been previously overlooked.
Our goal is for our ethnicity population to reflect the UK&I average by 2028. This commitment drives our efforts to create an inclusive environment where individuals of all ethnicities feel valued and empowered.
We believe in nurturing talent from the ground up. That's why we’re increasing our investment in apprenticeships, with the aim of growing our apprentice population to 25% by 2028. By offering opportunities for career development and advancement, we’re building a diverse workforce from the grassroots level and investing in our future leaders.
We are committed to expanding our recruitment efforts to include candidates from diverse educational backgrounds. By exploring the newer T-level qualification, we aim to provide opportunities for individuals from more diverse communities to gain valuable work experience and contribute to DM.
Diversity across all levels of DM is paramount. We’re proud to announce the increased female representation in our executive team, with the appointment of a female Non-executive Director, .Monica Collings. This step not only promotes equality but also brings diverse perspectives to our decision-making processes.
We recognise the importance of engaging with diverse communities and providing support tailored to their needs. That's why we have invested in Karren Brady's Jobs and Careers magazine, a readership demographic which includes ex-military personnel, parents returning to work, neurodiverse job seekers, and the LGBTQ community. The support we offer to our colleagues includes flexible working, welcoming career changers and providing additional equipment to support neurodiverse colleagues.
“Being neurodiverse can raise issues in the workplace that neurotypical managers may not normally encounter however DM have been fantastic providing specialist software that allows me to perform at my best and really show what I can do.” DM colleague.
At DM, diversity is not just a buzzword.
By championing diversity in our recruitment practices, we are not only building a stronger, more inclusive workforce but also driving innovation and success in everything we do.
We aim to become the employer of choice in our industry. Offering a workplace which can support all lifestyles, where individuals can build lifelong careers. We're striving to create an environment where everyone feels valued, appreciated, and empowered to achieve their full potential.
