Job Title: Design Manager
Division: UK Construction
Location: Birmingham
Role purposeWe currently have an opportunity for a Design Manager within our Construction Division to help deliver Public Sector with some projects in the Private Sector. Sectors include Leisure, Justice, Defence, Education, Health and Commercial offices.
Role will involve supporting the construction team in the resolution of design related issues in a timely manner to prevent having an affect on the construction programme and with awareness of the commercial implications the resolution may produce.
Key Accountabilities- Critique tender documentation, identify project risks.
- Assist Estimator to ensure robust tendering.
- Prepare design programme in conjunction with PM, consultants and CDP contractors.
- For D&B identify and agree drawings/samples for Client satisfaction.
- Monitor and report on design progress, statutory approvals, outstanding information required, subcontractor design, environmental/CDM issues.
- Ensure compliance with BREEAM design criteria (where appropriate).
- Review design information at tender and construction stage and report on Adequacy and Completeness, Statutory Compliance and Contract Coordination.
- Review subcontractor tender information.
Skills & Experience- Strong industry experience from either an architectural or project management background. Must have experience of a similar role on a project in excess of £10m.
- Experience of both design and build and traditional contracting.
- Technical and design skills
- BREEAM Experience (desirable)
