Job description

Ofgem works on behalf of energy consumers to ensure that every household and business in the UK can rely on a safe, affordable and environmentally sustainable energy supply. We are playing a vital part in accelerating the transition to Net Zero and a carbon neutral energy system - a goal that everyone wants to achieve. Whatever your role, you'll be playing your part in creating new energy solutions that are great for customers, and great for the environment.

Ofgem has a culture of inclusion that encourages, supports and celebrates the diverse voices and experiences of our colleagues. It fuels our innovation and helps ensure we can best represent the consumers and the communities we serve. Everyone is welcome - as an inclusive workplace, our employees are comfortable bringing their authentic selves to work.

The Office of Research and Economics at Ofgem is looking to expand our energy system modelling capability. Over the coming months this will involve procuring an existing energy system model 1 and bringing it in-house, alongside recruiting energy system modelling professionals. If successful, you will be involved in building this modelling capability within Ofgem, undertaking energy system modelling, as well as more generic economic analysis, as required. For this role, complex modelling or analytical experience is necessary. The successful candidate will be expected to procure, learn and operate an energy system model. Once the energy system model has been procured, there will be an opportunity for model-specific training. You will be joining Ofgem's strong economics community working collaboratively with others to lead as well as contribute to high profile projects using your modelling expertise.

You will be part of the Analysis profession within Ofgem to support in your career aspirations. After the initial deployment, you will have the opportunity to work flexibly across Ofgem as a member of your Profession, working on cross-Ofgem projects, and/or in teams that require your skills and expertise.
