About us

Camden is listening to everyone, including you. We’re giving a platform to people inside and outside our community. Because, we’re not just home to the UK’s fast-growing economy. We’re home to the most important conversations happening today. And we’re making radical social change a reality, so that nobody gets left behind. As a Social Worker with the Resources and Placement Service, you’ll help support young people either in their families or in placement and identify placements for Camden’s most vulnerable children.

The role

We're excited to offer an exceptional opportunity for a Placements and Resources Social Worker within our Resources Service.

In this role, you'll collaborate with professionals from various disciplines. Your responsibilities will involve preventing accommodation and placement breakdowns, sourcing foster homes, residential placements, secure units and supported accommodation, and ensuring the ongoing stability of placements. Additionally, you'll have the chance to enhance your skills and knowledge in child care planning.

Your primary focus will be threefold: providing support to young people in their accommodation or placements; identifying suitable placements for Camden's most vulnerable children and Care Experience young adults and providing oversight and scrutiny on existing children placements. Success in this role hinges on your ability to cultivate and maintain relationships with children, young people, and their families, collaborate effectively with social workers and other professionals, and navigate the dynamics of foster care and residential units.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and will require an Enhanced DBS.

About you

The successful candidate will hold a Diploma in social work, or equivalent qualification, and you must be Social Work England registered.

You will have experience in implementing care packages for young people who are at risk of accommodation or need to be looked after. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in developing needs-led packages of care and provide innovative care packages within budgetary constraints in conjunction with other services provided by the Department and independent agencies.

You will have good working knowledge of making entries on a young person’s file further to visits, meetings. You will have good communication skills both (verbal and written). You will possess the ability to build and sustain robust relationships with children and young people and their families, work productively with social workers and other professionals and have a good understanding and ability to work with foster carers and residential units.
